Visible (';white';) light is composed of all the colors of the spectrum (rainbow). Chlorophyll in a green plant absorbs and uses some of these colors more than others. A spectrophotometer is an instrument that measures what parts of the spectrum is being used and which are rejected (reflected).
Accordingly, for a green plant, like mongo, the best light would be ';white or clear'; like sunlight or an incandescent light bulb. To a lesser extent, blue %26amp; red lights would work well also.
The plant would struggle with orange %26amp; yellow lights and would die under a green light source.
