I see light flashes in the sky that look like lightning but i dont hear noise and the sky is completely clear?

Can anyone explain this type of event. I am begginning to get worriedI see light flashes in the sky that look like lightning but i dont hear noise and the sky is completely clear?
Sometimes when the weather is right you can see the light from very distant lightning flashes, far enough away that you are not able to hear them (particular if you already have some noise in the area, such as city traffic). There is a kind of lightning that arcs between clouds rather than between a cloud and the ground, and if the clouds are high enough the sound would probably not be audible. If it was a single flash then I would say it could also be a meteor, but if you're seeing a series of flashes then that explanation is probably out.I see light flashes in the sky that look like lightning but i dont hear noise and the sky is completely clear?
Sometimes a storm is low to the ground, and so far away, you don't see the clouds. But the the lightning strikes and the light bounces up to the sky.

There could also be an electrical wire or transformer fire a few blocks away. Sometimes these can flash very brightly and be seen up to a mile away but if it was that, usually you would hear a low pitch buzz sound a few seconds later.
it's 'heat lightnintg', like the other poster said..... look it up...

I used to live in a river valley... the mountains around me hid any far-off thunderstorms from view, but at night, the heat lightning was wonderful, back-lighting the mountains.... momma would look that way and say ';hmmm.. someone's garden is getting watered!!';......
Sometimes if Lightning isn't strong enough, it will simply fizzle before it explodes anything. The fact that the sky is clear just means that wind's static energy is being trapped on small clouds, creating your little flashes of light
Atmospheric lightning
I think it's lightning that ';zaps'; upwards through thinner air toward space, instead of downwards through cloud. High Power Static
Define light flashes. Like just random bursts of light? Streaks of light?
it could be heat lighting...

It can't be the flash of green, because that's in the south
