What kind of stone or raw gem is clear and seems to capture light?

This stone is about the size of a pinto bean. It is clear like glass. It seems to slightly magnify and it seems to capture light. I doesn't look like quartz.What kind of stone or raw gem is clear and seems to capture light?

Is it the whole crystal or does it look like it broke off of a bigger piece... where did you find it... what was on the ground around it... is there a lot of quartz in the area? It sounds like Quartz to me.
maybe calcite, or moonstone that is particularly clear
